2. Can I Provide Accurate Measurements?

Providing measurements for your new screens is not as simple as providing a height and width measurement. You must measure the door opening and the height and width of the door in three places. As well as this, you’re required to decide which side you want the lock to be on, and measure the top of the existing handle, among other tasks such as replacement track and build out frame. If just reading these steps is giving you mini heart palpitations, don’t stress. Accurate measurements are essential for the screens to be effective in securing your home in the best possible way. Inaccurate measurements can result in the screens being unable to be used, not providing accurate security and could end up costing you more money in the long run. 3. Am I Confident Installing the Screens Myself?
Are you excited by the prospect of DIY projects or does the thought of setting up an IKEA flat-pack make you want to curl into a ball and cry? - Metric tape measure
- Pencil
- Phillips Screwdriver (if you buy Crimsafe screens online, you’ll need a driver tool as we use only tamper resistant screws. This means they can’t be removed using a regular screwdriver anyone could get)
- Straight edge that is longer than your hinged door width
- Cordless Drill
- Hammer
- 12mm Chisel or smaller
- Hacksaw (potentially)
- Utility Knife
If you don’t have access to these tools or have never used these tools before, you will need to do this to correctly and safely install your purchase.
5. Am I really Getting Value For Money?
You want your home and family to be safe, but you still want to be able to afford that holiday away at the end of the year. It makes sense that you want an affordable solution. Online screens are certainly tempting but can be troublesome.
