The most common method criminals use to gain entry into homes or offices is to kick the door or screen until it busts apart. Unlike many other security products, it’s almost impossible for criminals to break Crimsafe apart. Crimsafe’s specially designed Tensile Tuff® security mesh is the strongest and thickest on the marketand is precisely woven to withstand impact. Crimsafe’s Screw-Clamp™ technology mechanically clamps the mesh into the frame, as opposed to the usual methods of gluing or embedding – so Crimsafe’s super tough mesh cannot easily be removed from the frame. (Read all about Crimsafe’s rigorous impact testing and how it measures up to other security screens on the market.)

Crimsafe’s ‘Mesh Black’ coating is a special formula applied to all security products. It contains additives to actively resist the build-up of dirt and impurities and assist in cleaning. All mesh, however, can still trap airborne dirt and impurities, which is why Crimsafe’s security products require regular care and maintenance.
Regular maintenance includes washing down the frame and mesh with warm water, a brush and preferably Crimsafe Wash and Wax. Ask Davcon’s security specialistsfor the Crimsafemaintenance and care instructions thatbest apply to your specific local environment. (See Crimsafe’s website for their care guide.)
Crimsafe security products are specifically designed and coated to withstand rust, even in coastal areas. Crimsafe’s products are made from structural grade 304 stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion. A layer of Santoprene rubber insulator prevents metals from touching and protects against electrolysis, while theTeflon gel injected around all screws prevents seizing and corrosion.
Crimsafe has been tested according to Australian standards and has been deemed satisfactory by the Building Code of Australia for areas prone to bushfires. Crimsafe tested 45% for fire attenuation, which means that almost half of the heat that reaches your Crimsafe screen will not transfer through Crimsafe’s security mesh.
Yes, Crimsafe reduces the amount of heat and light entering your home, ensuring a consistent indoor climate. Depending on the angle of the sun, Crimsafe acts as an effective blind, while still maintaining your view. Crimsafe is also energy efficient, reducing the amount of solar heat absorbed by up to 53%.
With Crimsafe, you can enjoy the airflow of a cooling breeze while still feeling safe behind your locked window or door. The holes in Crimsafe’s Tensile Tuff® security mesh are slightly larger than standard flyscreens, allowing fresh air to flow in and out of your home or office.
Crimsafe is not sandfly or midge proof, but it does cut down on the number of these pests coming into your home by 80%. Crimsafe is even more effective at keeping out insects when the surface of the screen is sprayed with insect repellent spray.
Crimsafe is absolutely pet friendly. Davcon can fit small, medium or large pet flaps throughout our range of Crimsafe security products, so that your little friends can still run in and out of the house while you maintain maximum security. Pets, no matter how hard they try, cannot penetrate Crimsafe’s Tensile Tuff® mesh with their claws, teeth or beaks.
Crimsafe’s Tensile Tuff® security mesh is the strongest on the market, crafted from structural grade 304 stainless steel wire, which is stronger and higher performing than the 316 grade stainless steel used in other security systems. Crimsafe’s security mesh undergoes several hardening processes to make it stronger than ordinary steel of the same diameter. The strands of mesh are precisely woven so that even if a criminal eventually succeeds in cutting a small hole in the mesh of your security screen, the hole can’t be made big enough for someone (of any size) to fit through.
Crimsafe’s security mesh is crafted from 304 grade stainless steel wire, which is 0.9mm in diameter and 26.5% cross-sectionally thicker than the wire used in other mesh security systems, which use a 0.8mm diameter 316 grade wire.
The holes in Crimsafe’s security mesh are 1.5mm x 1.5mm. The holes in standard flyscreen mesh are 1.5mm x 1.3mm.
Crimsafe’s Tensile Tuff® security mesh uses Screw-Clamp™ technology to mechanically fasten the mesh to the frame, as opposed to gluing or embedding. When Crimsafe products meet an impact, such as a kick, the system spreads the load around the whole frame and back into the structure of the building, soCrimsafe can withstand enormous impacts.
Crimsafe has a range of emergency keyless exit solutions for windows. Safe-S-Capes maintain heavy duty security from the outside while allowing you to exit through the window in an emergency, without rummaging for keys or fiddling with a lock.
Crimsafe products come in a variety of colours, with specialist colours available at an additional cost. The following standard colours are included in the initial cost:
- Pearl White
- Stone Beige
- White Birch
- Satin Black
- Woodland Grey
- APO Grey
- Snow Gum Effecta
- Honey Gum Effecta
- Cedar Effecta
- Deep Ocean
- Bronze Anodized
- Clear Anodized
- Mill Finished
Crimsafe mesh only comes in black because black absorbs light, allowing for good visibility through your Crimsafe screen. If the mesh were any other colour, light would reflect off it, reducing your ability to see through your Crimsafe screen and probably ruining your view.
Crimsafe recommends using commercial grade systems for commercial applications. While the domestic systems are incredibly strong, the Crimsafe commercial system is designed and strengthened specifically for commercial areas, which are usually more isolated, giving criminals more time to work on weakening the system. The commercial system features five times the number of screws used to screw-clamp the mesh to the frame and a 60% thicker frame than domestic systems, dramatically increasing the strength of the frame.
Crimsafe doors can be made without a mid-rail, however we recommend larger doors be made with a mid-rail.
When your Crimsafe sliding door is locked, it is practically impossible for it to be pulled from the tracks. All Crimsafe sliding doors are fitted with a triple lock, which holds the door securely into the door jamb at three points, as well as an interlock, which hooks into a corresponding interlock on the glass sliding door. When in the unlocked position, it may be possible, to dislodge the door from the tracks.
